You’ve probably heard about hybrid car concepts and if you still don’t know how they are or how they work, I would try to explain it for you. You could call hybrid car a car that you could drive on ground and into water but hybrid cars refer to cars that could use water to reduce the fuel usage.

If you are still asking yourself if something like that is possible, then you could check several information sources that will tell you that you could even do it by yourself. Several companies from the automotive industry have created converter kits that will turn your normal car into something really different.

The car won’t look different and probably no one will be able to see the difference from the outside but you will surely feel the difference when you will spend a lot less money on gas each day. The first kits arrived on the scene when technology proved that cars could work on a mix made from gasoline and water.

Suddenly, this idea became really popular and more and more people started to be interested in driving hybrid cars, cars that use these converter kits that could make them spend less money. These kits will turn ordinary water into fuel for your vehicle and it could work with steam and electrolysis. The steam will be pushed into the engine through different channels and it will give it the necessary power.

You won’t have to worry about gas from now on because you can have the same performances adding water as fuel for your car. You could find this modifying kits on several shops and they are pretty easy to install by yourself but if you don’t think you could do it, you could always go at the nearest repair shop and they will install if for a decent price. This is probably the best investment you could do in your car if you want to improve your gas mileage.

For a long time now insurance companies have been jumping on the bandwagon and offering cheaper women’s car cover based on the fact that women are safer drivers than men. This is likely to continue as new research has revealed that women drivers are less to go out and about in their cars during severe weather conditions and with severe winter weather being the cause of many accidents, women’s claims will remain down.

Icy conditions, windy and snowy conditions are all main causes of accidents on the road which then lead to an insurance claim, if women remain indoors then they are less likely to be involved in an accident which will make sure that they keep their good driving record. As reward for this many specialist insurance websites have popped up solely selling women’s car cover which offer lower premiums and bonuses. However searching for the insurance yourself is not generally the way to the best deals when it comes to premiums, premiums can be confusing and advertised misleading.

Very low premiums for any type of car insurance is not always the best way to go, car insurance should be tailored to the individual and certainly in the case of the women driver. A far better option when it comes to getting the quotes for women’s car cover is to go with a specialist broker.

A specialist broker will take into account that you are a woman driver and as such limit their search to those insurance companies that offer insurance aimed at women. Along with securing the cheapest premiums for the cover they will also look for the best deals which can include handbag cover and some basic form of breakdown cover. Just as important as getting low cost insurance is getting adequate cover and the information relating to the policy so that you can compare it with the premiums.

The key facts are where the terms and conditions relating to women’s car cover can be found and it is essential that you go over this with a fine tooth-comb to be aware of what is and is not included in the cover. It will also tell you how much excess you are asked to pay before the policy will kick in and tell you how much the cover will cost each month. All insurance policies can have exclusions in them, these are factors which could stop you from making a claim so it is imperative that you are aware of any that exist in any policy you are considering.

There can be many benefits to taking out women’s car cover and a specialist broker will offer information and advice on what to look for and how to choose the most suitable policy for your particular needs. Specialists who sell car insurance tailored for women can also offer other related insurance such as complete breakdown cover for a fraction of the cost if it is taken out alongside the car insurance. So if you are thinking of taking this out as well ask the broker to look for a combined policy which could save you even more money.

By: David H Thomson

About the Author:

Recently a motor insurance company conducted some research into it’s customers and was able to determine that certain age groups have an affinity to certain car types. This research was able to pigeonhole certain brands to age groupings partially because the particular age group was only able to get car insurance on that particular class of vehicle. Obviously the richer and later in life people get the more money they potentially have to spend on a car and its corresponding insurance.

With younger drivers, Fiat and Peugeot cars were most popular with the average driver age being 31 and 32. This is pretty much a given as smaller engine models such as the Fiat Punto and Peugeot 106 are popular first cars for many younger drivers and much easier to get insured on.

Minis were also popular amongst younger drivers with their average age being 33 years old too, the marketing of these vehicles tend to appeal to younger drivers too which may also contribute to the choice of vehicle.

More mature drivers choose the type of car you may already expect, being Volvos and Jaguars. One surprising statistic is that the Nissan Micra only had an average of 35, and in the motoring industry this is regarded as a car typically driven by the grey hair brigade. Larger older vehicles such as Jaguars have classic high cost parts which would cost a lot to replace and so car insurance on some of these older vehicles will be understandably higher.

Despite it’s image in recent years of being the ultimate in celebrity excess, Mercedes-Benz has an average age much higher than the typical movie star and is considered to have the same age driver as the Jaguars and Volvos. This is something that stars like Britney Spears who drives a Mercedes SL500 and Jim Carrey, with a McLaren SLR, will no doubt be rather embarrassed about.

But the most obvious result from the insurance survey is what car type tops the list of the mid-life crisis crowd, the Porsche. Porsche cars like the 911, Boxster and Cayenne all have an average age of around 39. As the old saying goes, if you know you’ve hit your mid-life crisis when you buy a guitar, get a girlfriend half your age or buy a Porsche.

So in this research the insurance companies have found some drivers fit their stereotype but interestingly some did not. Obviously there will be some that don’t follow the trend and will have a different car but more and more we are seeing people buying cars that will get them cheap car insurance as opposed to turning heads on the high street.

Car storage has now become an important part in the self storing industry. In places with less population congestion there is more freedom to use your own property and you do not need to bother about car parking. People residing in such places can have more than one vehicle or even a classic car, and park it in the driveway or even pull it up behind the house. Today in most family two vehicles are common and in some suburban communities and municipalities there are strict laws and guidelines regarding car parking areas. Wherever you decide to park your car it is advisable that you insure your car first.

In large cities parking and car storage cost comes at a premium and very expensive price. The price of a 10 x 20 feet unit or a parking spot for a car is very high compared to those in the smaller communities. But again if you see you will find the monthly rate for car storing in bigger cities may be far below the cost of parking garages. In Philadelphia the rate for street parking is as high as 11 dollars per hour. Many car owners prefer to have a secure car parking unit. Almost every reputable storing facility obliges their customer for an up to date registration, in the name of the renter before purchasing parking space for the car.

Car storage is not only a boon to the modern day commuters but also for those who travel a lot. Many people go out of their country on job or on vacation. They need a place to keep their car safe when they are out of station. Contractors also need car parking space for keeping the utility trailers, vans, and lights trucks, which are not permitted to park at a private residence. These car parking facilities also provide car parking space with access controlled secured area. Many military personnel require the car parking facility. They are deployed out of state or even out of the country for long periods and they need a place to park their car.

Nowadays due to globalization many businessmen and corporate personnel need to fly in and out of countries as their job demands. Again there are many people who do not have a family to offer them with car parking space and thus they remain concerned about the safety of their car. This turns them to look for outside parking space for keeping their car safely. And after all a safe and guaranteed parking spot in a car storage location with an access controlled gate and other security features, as well as a fixed monthly rate that is possibly far below the price of daily or weekly parking permits.

With the rising gasoline prices across the world there may be a halt in the market for purchase of extra vehicle. Extra car would mean not only extra gas cost which is increasing day by day but also extra cost for car parking. Cars may tend to become less dependent on internal combustion. If the trend in automobiles changes to meet this challenge people may get inclined for alternative ways of fuel like electric cars. Many units offering storing facilities also provide electrical outlets in each unit. Electrical powered cars would also be less dangerous to house in car storage .

By: Kamyar Shah

About the Author:

With so many high quality used cars available on the market, many people don’t hesitate to purchase a used car over a new one. If fact, many car buyers can get a higher quality used car for the same price, if not less, than the cost of a new model.

As with buying anything second hand, there are some things you need to take into consideration that aren’t always necessary with buying something new.

Research

It is extremely important that you conduct some research when buying a used car. You should have a clear idea of what make and model you wish to buy, the kind of performance you desire, and the comparable market prices on used cars in your area. By doing a little research before you hit the dealerships or private sellers, you better your chances of getting a really good deal.

Car History Reports

If at all possible, you should definitely get a vehicle history report on any used vehicle you wish to purchase. This may give you an idea of any problems the car may have, such as past accidents or any other major problems.

Compare Safety Features

You should do your best to find a used car with the best safety feature available. According to some reports, almost 80% of all accident injuries were heightened because safety features were not available on the car.

Scrutinize All Vehicle Documents

Make sure that all the vehicle documents are valid. The last thing you want to do is buy a car that is stolen, has liens on it, or has a forged “Bill of Sale”.

Last but not least, you should meticulously inspect the overall condition of the car before signing any papers. You should be wary of any rust or damage, and should check that the tires are safe to drive on.

By: Cat Tobin

About the Author:

Cars can be luxurious or not. Used cars are sold to any car surplus center. But some people donate their car. The Car Donation for Cancer patients has been delivering a huge impact to the society. Most people are having hard time donating their cash on hand. Non Government Organizations found ways to solve certain issues to generate more donations for research and for patient’s medication. One such program is donating a car.

Eliminating hassles of selling old cars, this idea of donation gives people a feeling of goodwill. Giving to those in need makes the donor happy. Not just wealthy individuals are making donations but some other average people are taking advantage of this program also.

The Cancer Research Institute was founded in 1953 to enhance the science of cancer immunology. The institute gives hope for the ultimate prevention and treatment of human cancer. The United Breast Cancer Foundation whose aim is prevention, treatment and eradication of breast cancer and educating the public with regards to cancer-causing aspects like genetic disposition, diets and including environmental toxins. These programs take car donations.

These charities are able to accept most cars, trucks, even trailers, boats, jet-skis and even motorcycles. Even cars that have not run in years are acceptable provided that its value will not offset the towing fee. Once you donate a car it should include the titles and keys but if you don’t have them anymore it is still acceptable provided that you fill out the necessary paperwork to sign your car over to the foundation.

The foundations also have professionally licensed, bonded and insured towing companies that will pick up your car. The pick up time will be arranged according to your availability. Once you make a donation you are entitled to a tax deductible donation. There is also a donor’s guide to car donations.

The vehicle donation form is a one page form. Car Donation for Cancer information includes your complete name and address. Select a charity you want your proceeds to go. Enter the location of your vehicle if it’s different from your home address. The vehicle information needed includes the number of years it is used, the make, the model, license plate number and VIN. There is also an area about the description as to which part of the vehicle is damaged; if it is the body or the interior, if it’s drivable as is. You can then either mail the form or just send it online.

By: Faye Salmons

About the Author:

Whether you’re buying a new or used car, the Internet is a good way to start. If you’re looking for a new model, you can look up the kind of car you want, the options you need, and the price of the car. If you do it right, you can walk into any dealer armed with lots of important information.

A good place to start searching is the manufacturers’ web sites to see all the cars and the available options. You can request quotes from local dealers or view the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When you know what you want, you can visit other web sites like Kelly Blue Book’s site for more pricing information.

Aside from researching the car you like, you can also use the Internet to determine your financing options and choose the right warranty for your car. Sites like E-Loan and Lending Tree offer online auto loans. Keep in mind though that warranties can be used by dealers to get more money from your bank account. You can avoid this by knowing what kind of warranty you want and how much you’re willing to pay for it.

When scouting for the perfect vehicle, don’t be blinded by emotions. This can prevent you from seeking other vehicles that may be better for your needs. An emotional display can also leave you more susceptible to a salesperson’s tactics. To determine how good a vehicle is, set emotion aside and focus on doing your homework.

Of course, the test drive remains a vital part of the car-buying process. A lot of vehicles may look good online but you can only see how well a vehicle delivers what it promises with a test drive. This is your best chance to see how a vehicle measures up to expectations and how well it suits you. If you hate surprises, never buy a car without testing it first. A 30-minute test drive can erase all doubts and tell you if the vehicle is worth it.

By: Mark Patton

About the Author:

General Motors Corp. called on Congress to increase the fund allocated to support the automotive industry’s efforts to speed the implementation of advanced technologies. The call is anchored on discovering and promoting alternative fuel to wean the nation from dependence on foreign oil.

The call is also triggered by the need to improve efficiency of the vehicles. This need necessitates billions of dollars. This could also force the automaker to produce smaller and lighter cars or make hybrid counterparts of the production models. Eventually, GM is expected to drop some of its inefficient market segments and models.

Outside the Senate hearing room, GM showed them the Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in hybrid concept. Inside the hearing room, Beth Lowery, GM’s vice president for energy and environment, told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee that the government should fund a major effort to increase research and development in battery technology and to support manufacturing of advanced batteries. “Government funding should continue and expand development and demonstration of hydrogen and fuel cells,” she added.

Advances in technology are pretty much needed in producing state-of-the-art batteries, brakes, suspension, cooling system, and other auto parts accessories to help boost efficiency and performance of the vehicles. Said advances are also critical in producing plug-in hybrids like the Chevrolet Volt and the Ford Hy-series hybrid Edge a reality.

The Chevrolet Volt, which was officially unveiled at the North American International Auto Show, is basically a hybrid but the automaker prefers to call it an electric vehicle with a “range extender” because of its eccentric design. The concept car is engineered to run on electricity from on-board batteries for short trips up to 40 miles. It uses a small internal combustion engine hooked to a generator to supply to the batteries.

The Ford Hy-series hybrid Edge features the expediency of plugging in your car with a zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell. Gerhard Schmidt, Ford’s vice president of research and advanced engineering said, “We could take the fuel cell power system out and replace it with a downsized diesel, gasoline engine or any other powertrain connected to a small electric generator to make electricity like the fuel cell does now.”

Some automakers were saddened by the fact that a proposed $500 million over five years to speed research into advanced batteries was not contained in President Bush’s State of the Union address. However, it may still form part of the president’s budget proposal. Automakers also complained about Bush’s proposed 4 per cent increase in fuel efficiency. They said it is “very aggressive” and noted that it is twice the increase that the president has implemented last March, when the administration reformed and increased corporate average fuel economy rules for light trucks, which includes SUVs.

The first proposal to increase fuel economy requirements by 4 per cent was issued in December. Bush acknowledged that his proposal is similar to the previous proposal. “Their plan and my plan are very — have got commonalities, and we’re going to work together to get Congress to enact a comprehensive plan. I believe there’s an appetite in the halls of Congress to become less dependent on oil,” Bush said. Last year, the 4 per cent figure was also proposed by U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois. The latter still wanted Congress to mandate such an annual increase.

Lowery also called on Congress to include “further incentives for advanced automotive technology so that these technologies may be adopted by consumers in large numbers. Consumer tax credits should be focused on technologies that have the greatest potential to actually reduce petroleum consumption.” She also added the federal government should increase its purchase of advanced vehicles.

However, some federal representatives are not amenable to Lowery’s call. “There are many smart ways to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb the emissions of greenhouse gases. We don’t have to kill auto jobs to save the polar bears or wean ourselves from Saudi oil,” said Joe Knollenberg, U.S. Rep from R-Bloomfield Township.

By: Anthony Fontanelle

About the Author:

Driving a car can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life when you are a teenager. As you get older, driving becomes a little bit less of a thrill but many of us still enjoy the occasional road trip. No matter what the reason for you getting behind the wheel, it is going to require that you have car insurance. Looking for and buying your car insurance online can save you a lot of time and money.

Make sure that you have the right coverage on your auto policy. There really is such a thing as too much insurance and conversely you can have too little. Many people think that if you have car insurance, everything is covered. This is not the case so you need to select the options for your policy carefully.

The first thing you need to do is find out what your state of residence requires of you as a driver. Every state has their own set of rules that involves car insurance. Typically, you must carry the minimum amounts of coverage as specified by the Department of Insurance of each state. Physical liability coverage is one of these requirements.

It covers the other party if there is a car accident and you are found at fault for causing the accident. It will pay for the other people to get their medical bills taken care of immediately as well as long term. Typically the required coverage is twenty five thousand dollars per person for a maximum of fifty to one hundred thousand per accident.

You will also need property liability coverage. This pays for the other persons car to be fixed or replaced in the accident you are responsible for. It also covers any damage to their property at home if you run into their house or yard.

Uninsured and under insured coverage is a wise option to take even if your state does not dictate that you have it. If you are in an accident and the other driver who is responsible does not have any or adequate insurance, this portion of the policy ensures that you do not have to pay everything in full, out of pocket for your medical bills and getting your car fixed.

There are many other riders to policies that you can purchase. Research car insurance online and select the best plan for your needs. Do not forget to make sure that the deductible amount you select for your plan is an amount that you can afford if you have to pay it.

By: Ted Kripps

About the Author:

1. Research on the car you want.

Chances are, you already have a good idea of what car you want. If you do, then you must deepen your knowledge about it as dealers and salesmen tend to prey on those who know little.

2. Know the car’s purchase price.

The sticker price is not the market purchase price. You can research for the true market value price or purchase price well in advance so you know how you can go with the negotiations.

3. Arrange your financing options in advance.

Before you go to the dealer’s, try to arrange for outside and better financing. That way, you have more space for finding lower interest rates and better deals.

4. Maximize rebates and discounts.

Manufacturers often provide incentives. They do this with cars which do not have as many sales as other make or models. Be sure to know about the available incentives so you can grab them. Examples of such new cart incentives are cash rebates or even low interest financing.

5. Negotiate the lowest price possible.

Sometimes, we find it acceptable to get fair rates but there are times when we can get them rock bottom. The key is to learn to negotiate and to have leverage on the dealers. You have to remember that you can always walk out a dealership showroom since you are the boss. Start with a low price and negotiate up for a fair price. If you do not like the deal or if you think it is not fair, you can always go to another dealer.

6. Do not be forced to pay for unnecessary extras.

Before closing the deal, a salesman would usually offer you extras. Do not be forced to sign for them. You can always get them later on if you do not feel comfortable in getting the add-ons now.

7. Close the deal and sign the paperwork in a comfy environment.

If you feel intimidated by the dealership showroom or office, then you can always ask the dealership to deliver the car to your home. Here, you can finalize your decision in a more relaxed environment. This is important since buying a new car is a huge investment.

By: Darrell Freeman

About the Author:
